"Substantial and Justifiable Concerns" re Mr. von Spakovsky Yesterday, the

Center posted details of how Hans von Spakovsky misled the Senators during his testimony at his confirmation hearings. Two letters opposing his nomination sent yesterday by the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under law and Public Citizen. The
Brennan
Center too has written to Senators expressing its opposition to the nomination stating, in part, “In committee, substantial and justifiable concerns were raised with respect to Mr. von Spakovsky’s record of using federal government office to promote an agenda adverse to American voters. Documents that Mr. von Spakovsky has acknowledged drafting or signed as his own, as Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division, demonstrate that he repeatedly advanced policies that closed poll site and courthouse doors to eligible American voters.” To read the full letter from the
